I got off the phone this morning with a man who was searching for a used skid steer for his fence company. He was considering a S150 Bobcat. After we spoke he had completley changed his mind. The reason a S150 Bobcat is a poor choice for drilling holes is that it is light weigt trie machine. What you need if your in the fence building business is a rubber track skid steer because you will encounter deep sand or muddy condition where a tire skid steer will not be able to get around, and a rubber track machine would be able to get around without getting stuck. Another factor that he did not consider is the down presure he was going to need to drill holes easily. Yes down presure is probabaly the most impotant factor in being able to drill holes fast and easy. I know some of you may think that a high gpm hydraulics system on a skid steer is what makes a difference, but you do not need speed to drill holes effectivly, you need down pressure, slow with a lot of weight is what you need, That being said, the heaviest rubber track skid steer loader that you can find is the best skid steer to drill holes.
